Get human help
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. In the US, call 911 for an immediate medical or safety emergency. Call or text 988 for suicide or mental-health crisis support, or visit the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
Outside the US, contact your local emergency number or a local crisis service. If possible, reach someone you trust who can stay with you while you get help.
How Novo responds
Novo is AI. When the person expresses suicidal intent, current self-harm risk or an acute mental-health crisis, its instructions are to respond with care, pause unrelated work while addressing the immediate crisis and encourage human crisis or emergency support appropriate to the person's location. The shared instructions apply to the Helper and its Tasks.
Limits
Novo Life is not an emergency service. Conversations are not monitored for emergencies, and Novo does not contact or dispatch emergency responders. AI can miss a crisis or respond incorrectly. This protocol does not guarantee detection, intervention or safety. Do not wait for an AI response to seek urgent help.
